Music for the Chapels Royal
Sacred music by Purcell, Blow, Greene, Handel

Henry Purcell by John Closterman, 1695
Lucy Russell, violin
Peter Symour, harpsichord
We celebrate the anniversaries of Purcell (b.1659) and Handel (d.1759) with sacred music written for the intimate setting of the Chapels Royal as well as larger scale compositions from Westminster Abbey including Coronation anthems for James II and Handel’s As pants the hart. Lucy Russell, leader of Yorkshire Baroque Soloists, performs two of Handel’s violin sonatas.
