Sponsorship and donations enable Yorkshire Bach Choir to continue to promote concerts of the very highest standards. Part of this is meeting the ever-increasing costs of performing with world-class orchestral instrumentalists. A very generous donation by Mrs Celia M Burgan has enabled YBC to make a recording of Bach B minor Mass with Yorkshire Baroque Soloists during April 2010. The recording is due for release in the spring of 2011 by Signum Records.

Support from The RM Burton Charitable Trust and The Audrey & Stanley Burton Charitable Trust facilitated the purchase of a pair of custom-made baroque timpani which made their ‘debut’ in the December 2007 concert.

Tuition Bursaries
Yorkshire Bach Choir is delighted to be able to support University students with their singing studies with funds generously provided by the D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust and the R M Burton Charitable Trust.
The purpose of the donations is to enable Yorkshire Bach Choir to make bursaries available to help promising members of the choir who, through their chosen course of study are not eligible for funded singing lessons, to be given that opportunity.
The first student to benefit from one of the bursaries is Fabienne Brooksbank, who said:
To have the support of such funding is invaluable, as doing an MA is not only costly but timely, especially as a part-time student. I am grateful to Yorkshire Bach Choir and its sponsors the D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust for the generous bursary of £450 which I have used to pay for singing lessons at the University of York. The lessons have been invaluable in helping me develop an understanding of performance styles, as well as advancing my singing technique. My self confidence as a performer has increased and I have performed several solo roles with the choir.
