Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Updated 20 September 2021

Keeping you safe

The safety and comfort of our audiences is really important to us. COVID-19 measures will be in place for all performances to ensure the best possible experience for audiences and performers. These measures will reflect advice and guidance from the UK Government, the NHS, our venue partners (St Lawrence Parish Church York, Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall) and Making Music UK and will be adjusted as the guidance changes.

COVID-19 safety measures

  • From October 2021 onwards we plan to perform to full capacity but we will continue to follow best practice at both venues.

  • We will put in place measures for entering and leaving the audience spaces at both our venues based on the latest advice from the venue partner.

  • Hand sanitising will be available on entry at all venues to all audience members and performers.

  • Face covers are strongly encouraged for all audience members to protect others, and also the wearer.

  • Wherever possible tickets should be bought in advance to minimise the need to purchase tickets on the door; tickets are available online via the NCEM up until 4pm on the day of the concert.

  • When booking, we will ask for your contact details, including a current telephone contact, which will be passed on to the test and trace scheme if required.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days and have been advised to self-isolate, or have been advised to self-isolate due to close contact with someone who has COVID-19 you must not attend a performance.

What happens if a performance is cancelled?

YBC retains the right to cancel all, or part, of the concert series including in the event of any update to COVID-19 government guidance or restrictions. In the event of cancellation, ticket holders will be offered either a refund or the opportunity to exchange tickets.  This will include either the full price of individual tickets or the part-value of a Season ticket related to the concert cancelled. In the event of the cancellation of a concert, or series of concerts, audience members will be contacted either by email or telephone based on the information given at the time of booking. We will also continue to update audience members by email on any substantive change to COVID-19 precautions for the concert.
